    EikonalWorks IntensityView

    EikonalWorks IntensityView is a photometric data application for opening, inspecting, editing, comparing, and reporting luminous intensity distributions. It is designed for lighting engineers, optical designers, and product teams who need to work with measured or simulated luminaire data in common industry exchange formats.

    The application focuses on intensity distribution data and the engineering workflows around it: file import and export, view-based inspection, false-color visualization, photometric modification tools, roadway and indoor calculation reports, colorimetric reports, and quick metrics for selected luminaires.

    What IntensityView is used for

    Use IntensityView when you need to:

    • Open photometric files such as IES, EULUMDAT, TM-33, GLDF, PHILLUM, TM-14, or EikonalWorks Intensity files.
    • Inspect luminous intensity distributions in tables, 2D maps, 3D views, spherical views, rendered illuminance views, and diagram views.
    • Compare selected luminaires or emitter channels using quick diagrams and metrics.
    • Edit photometric data, including symmetry, smoothing, alignment, combination, scaling, and targeted intensity modifications.
    • Prepare documentation and reports for roadway, utilization, zonal lumen, beam spread, glare, color, and related workflows.
    • Preserve richer EikonalWorks-specific data in the .ewi internal format.

    Core concepts

    A loaded file is represented as an intensity document. A document may contain one or more emitter channels, and the application can display either individual channels or the resulting combined distribution. The Documents pane manages the loaded luminaires and selection state, while the Main Content pane displays the active view, edit page, report page, or tool page.

    Most views and calculations operate on the current selection. If a command appears unavailable, check that at least one suitable intensity distribution is selected and that the active page supports the selected photometry type or data mode.

    Workspace model

    IntensityView uses a dockable wxWidgets AUI workspace. The Documents pane and Main Content pane form the core layout. Additional panes such as Quick Diagram, Quick Metrics, and diagram panes can be added, docked, floated, closed, and restored through the Settings menu.

    File compatibility

    Supported file formats are documented in Supported File Formats. The supported list is based on the built-in stream factory and may be extended by file stream plugins on Windows.
